  Due to the prolonged COVID-19, it has become difficult to consult with freshmen and transfer students who entered our university face-to-face. Accordingly, students from all departments of Sangmyung University produced a department promotion video for freshmen and transfer students. The department promotion video is perfect information for the untact era, which can provide indirect experiences in college life to freshmen and transfer students. The department promotion video features students from each department to provide specific information about the department. Through this article, I’m going to introduce the department promotion videos that will help freshmen and transfer students with school life. 


The Department Promotion Video Produced by Enrolled Students, Professors, and Graduates

  A total of 74 department promotional videos were created with 66 department promotional videos and 8 department promotional videos produced by ambassadors. The department promotion video is meaningful in that enrolled students, professors, and graduates participated in cooperation for freshmen and transfer students who have difficulty to obtain information in non-face-to-face situations. The department promotion videos contain various contents such as department introduction, department curriculum, various club activities in the department, interviews with professors and students, and department prospects. The department promotion videos can be checked on Sangmyung University's official YouTube admission website. 




Awards for Producing Department Promotion Videos

  The Department of Historical Contents, which won the 1st prize, produced a video introducing the department and college life with the participation of students and professors, including quizzes conducted with a prize of 1 million won.The Department of Economics and Finance and the Department of Russian Language and Regional Studies Major won the 2nd prize. The Department of Economics and Finance introduced college life such as introduction to departments, atmosphere of departments, and tips for making friends. The Department of Russian Language and Regional Studies Major produced a department promotion video containing interviews with graduates working at Hyundai Motor's Russian subsidiary partner and graduates who entered the Russian National University. In addition, 10 departments won the 3rd prize. There are 10 Departments such as Family Welfare, Education, Game, Fintech, Dance Art, Korean Language and Culture, Space Design Major, Stage Art, Sports Convergence and Software. Lastly, the Department of Nursing Science made a promotion video which is a parody of Squid Game.


Effects of Department Promotion Videos

  A university official said, “With the spread of COVID-19, the promotion video of the department, which the entire department participated in, shows an amateur appearance in the video as it was produced by the enrolled students. However, the information delivered by students is expected to allow freshmen and transfer students to experience practical college life indirectly.”


  The department promotion videos contain useful information for students who are new to school for the first time, so I hope many students will pay attention. In addition to department promotional videos, Sangmyung University blogs, Facebook and Instagram can also provide various information about school life, so I hope students will be interested in using these resources.
